A Short Getaway...

Had been to Matheran (a hill station, around 100 km from Bombay).. It was a fun trip..

I got to sit on a horseback for the first time and even though I sprained my arm and leg, I enjoyed..!!!

I witnessed the most beautiful sunset ever at Sunset point.

I screamt at echo point hoping to hear an echo, but unfortunately, didn't :(

I had never before seen such a lot of monkeys together.. I thought monkeys were supposed to be friendly.. Trust me, they scare the hell out of you!! You gotta act fast to escape them! There were a few cute ones too, who ate nuts from the hands of the tourists there..!

I played on see-saws, swings and slides after ages..!!! :D

I jumped around and danced in the middle of the woods just cuz there was no one looking, and I could do what I wanted to !! :D

Had moonlight dinner with wonderful music!! :)

Lastly, I tweeted from my cellphone.. didn't know I'd become such a Twitter bug..!

Here are a few clicks of the trip--

The sunset at Sunset Point
I like this picture particularly because of the clouds beneath the sun that are lit up by the sun-rays..It just looks so pleasant!

My cousin captured this...I like this one the best-- it has a different feel to it!

Cute, aren't they???

My cousin clicked this in just ONE go !

Confused...!!!

It almost seems like God read my post yesterday, since I got a big package from Wipro today with the offer letter in it, and an office bag ! :D But it's confusing me all the more!

I had also got selected by Patni but they didn't give me a joining date yet. And so is the case with Wipro, except that it's in Bangalore and it has a 4 year bond, and only after completion of 4 years will I be called an employee of Wipro! So it doesn't really seem like a good idea to me, but if I don't have any choice left, I might have to go with it..but that also means saying goodbye to my city and to my Masters degree. I'm all confused now :(

Life's complicated when you don't know where you're heading.. and what you want to do!

Jobs and Recession

There couldn't have been a more worse time for me to graduate.. I never thought I'd be affected by the recession.. And here I am, hunting for jobs since a month and still jobless! I signed up on all the job portals I knew.. and everyday I get mails from them saying they've jobs that supposedly match my profile. I apply to all of them and rarely ever do they revert..!
Last week, I was all excited when I finally got a mail from some Datamatics Global Services saying they had a job matching my profile, and that I was to urgently come there with my resume. The next day itself, I went there accompanied by my unemployed friend. We were made to fill some forms and wait outside to be called in by the HR for some short seminar that would give us an idea of our job profiles. We waited.. waited and waited some more! Soon, it was time for lunch, we ran to the cafeteria and hogged as much as we could :D And then FINALLY the HR called us in..  After 4 hours of waiting, he tells us we have to search Google and Wiki for information on their products, edit the information to discard irrelevant info, and feed the stuff into MS-Excel! And the mail said the job matched my profile !!! 3 years of learning progamming languages, developing web based and system applications and we end up with a data-entry job! We couldn't wait there any longer and literally ran out of the office building as soon as he went in to get the Test papers! :D

Yesterday again, I went for an interview in Karrox technologies, which turned out to be a coaching class. There was a huge crowd of people lined up for the interview, guessed they all got the mail. After 2 hours of waiting, we were told that we have to pay them 50K for a training course, after which IBM will come to their coaching class to recruit people and it MAY hire us after interviewing us.. All of us left at once!!! It was like paying them to get paid!!! :D

I've given up hopes of getting employed now.. maybe I'll just complete my Masters, and by then, hopefully the situation'll improve..!! Else, you might find me in some firm working with Google and Excel.. ! :P

Dr. Smiley made me smile! Thanks! :)

I wondered why Sakhi a.k.a. Dr. Smiley (my blog friend from Ahmedabad) asked me for my postal address all of a sudden when I was online on GTalk. Then she went on to tell me she might give me a surprise visit soon and that by having to answer that, I had ruined her surprise! :D Little did I know what was coming my way was a sweet little gift wrapped with lots of scotch tape love! :)

I had come back home tired after a long and useless day and mom told me there was a gift from someone, I lightened up as soon as I saw her name on the packet, I opened it and found this wonderful bag.. I called her up to thank her when she told me she had got it when she went to Goa. Got a sweet surprise in a long time! Thanks a lot dear! It made my day :)

I Vote !

It's been two years since I turned eighteen but never really got an opportunity to vote.
And yesterday I did it-finally! I was thrilled to see my name on the Voters list last month, and I had started preparing since then! :D
Yeah you read that right- preparing!

Right since I was a kid, I'd envy my parents who'd come home with inks on their index fingers. Not that I was interested in politics.. I just wanted to feel like a grown up, an adult, and contribute to the society in some way.. strange, I know. As soon as I checked my name online, I called up all my college friends to check theirs too and guided them through the process.. I was the only fortunate one whose name was on the list, almost none of my friends could vote this year.. :D I kept logging in to the Jaago re, Janaagraha, One Billion Voters sites to check out the profiles of all the candidates in my constituency. I wanted it to be perfect! I even bought a t-shirt that says "I Vote" from my designer friend Neil who designed it himself!

And finally the day arrived. The day most of us would spend holidaying, or in bed.. I was already on all those sites, confirming my booth number, booth address.. I put on that tee, carried my PAN and ration card, and proudly marched my way to the venue! I was smiling at everyone there.. Trust me, it DOES scare people ! :D After getting my details verified, and showing them an identification proof, I voted ! And got my finger marked..!!! Atlast! :)

I felt a sense of pride!
Just going around showing people the middle finger now! :D

What's UP.. literally !!

Seems like it's been ages since I wrote last !! Was busy with my final year exams.. and now that they're over, I'm all the more busier ! :D

I can't believe I travelled to all parts of Bombay and beyond within a span of just 5 days !! :D

Enjoying my summer holidays thoroughly.. these maybe perhaps the last of my holidays..

Had a hectic day today.. Couldn't help but write about it. I was all curled up in my bed, dreaming of caves and dungeons early morning at 11.30 (On off days, my mornings start at 12 pm :D ) ..!! And all of a sudden.. Thud !!! I slipped and fell , and got up instantly..! The "Thud" sound actually came from the kitchen.. I sometimes wonder how dreams seem to ALWAYS synchronize with what goes on in reality.. :) I ran to the kitchen, to find my ceiling on the gas, on the floor, on top of the refrigerator.. in bits and pieces..!!
Incidentally, since about a week or so, our terrace was being dug up for the rains, they're putting on some mosaic tiles there.. and they hit it so hard that we don't have a ceiling anymore :(
I had to spend the whole day cleaning the kitchen, the room and convincing the neighbours that I was OK !! :D
Bad day.. can't wait till they repair it now :(

Moral Dilemmas...

Sometimes,
There are some things about someone you don't like,
some things so intimate that telling them could break a relationship forever,
and not telling them could affect their relationships with other people they meet down the line..

What would you do in this case?
Tell them and risk getting misunderstood and losing them?
Or Not tell them and let them ruin their future lives?

Worrying over Not Worrying!!! :D

It's that time of the year again...Exams are round the corner, starting from 6th April, and these are not just college exams I'm talking about, these are University (Board) exams.. And strangely, the tension's not building up at all !

Maybe the feeling's not sunk in yet.. maybe I'm so used to treating college exams so lightly since they have no value, that I'm treating this like one too!

And it's not only with me, it's with the whole of TYCS (Third Year Computer Science). I see all of them in green dots blinking all the time whenever I login to Gtalk.. Our community on Orkut is flooded with new forums and posts every hour .. !! Seems like by the time the worry sinks in, it's going to be too late.. It happened that way for our practical exams. We would all be wasting time in college all day and one night before the exams, at 2 a.m. Aditi and I would be on the phone chorusing
"Fatttt rahi hai be.." :D

But all went well.. and I hope this goes well too !! :)

Me,Myself and the Universe!

Of late, the Universe has been in favour of me. I think I can replace Nikhil as GOD now :P

It all started 2 weeks back!

I was super-bored and was browsing through my Orkut friend list, when I saw this friend of mine who I hadn't spoken to since ages! He's studying at IIM, Ahmedabad, and before this, he was in IISc Bangalore. My point is- he's hardly ever in Bombay.. I thought I'd just go say hi, scrapped him and went off to sleep! Just a couple of hours later, my mom came back from work to tell me he she bumped into him, and he told her he had tried calling me just a few minutes back, that he'd be in town for a couple of days now.. I was shocked..!!

The same evening, I was online, and was just about to ping Nikhil after a really long time, when I got a call from him after a month!

It was all starting to get really creepy..

Whatever I thought, evolved. And it's not always a good thing!

I had just formatted my drive and was hoping it would not get infected by this stupid "z-connect" virus again.. and it did, the next day itself!
Likewise, for my Java viva, I was hoping my teacher wouldn't ask me a particular method explanation I wasn't too sure of, and she did JUST THAT!

Its really difficult NOT to think of something when you don't want it, and when you know you're not supposed to think of it ! :D
I should learn to choose my thoughts..!

In the words of Chris Daughtry-

"Be careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it all... and then some you don't want."

Here I am ! :)

I'm back ! Firstly I apologise for not replying to any of the comments and being away from blogosphere for quite some time. I've just been a lot busy lately. First, it was my PC acting funny, it had a mind of its own and used to restart whenever it felt like! I had to work on my friend's PC which I'm sure annoyed her as I took up her facebook time, not to mention her long chats with her virtual boy friend in San Fransico (Chinky, please don't kill me for this!) :D

Followed by that were journal submissions, had to meet a lot of back-to-back deadlines. All my journals got signed except for Java, and when I asked my teacher why she wouldn't sign it, all she said was she was not satisfied with my attendance! I've missed just 2 of her practicals, and no satisfaction!!! Some people are hard to please. I wondered why she was doing that to me when there were others who hardly ever managed to get out of bed to make it to class.. Personal grudges maybe..but what a way to get back at someone! After 2 viva sessions, and she hating me for getting them right, I finally got that signature! Phew!

Then came the much awaited V-day, which clashed with our farewell.
I went to college in the morning, and as i was expecting, there was a posse of policemen gathered outside and also a bench put up by the Congress. Political invasion on Valentines day is usual, but this year the reasons were different. There was a hoarding that said "Get lucky in love". They were supporting V-day and gave out red roses to everyone! It's no surprise with the elections round the corner..they keep coming up with innovative ways to fill their votebank!

The evening party was nice, I had created a movie out of all our photos and videos right from the First Year. After giving our farewell speeches, we played that movie on the projector that left all of us feeling nostalgic.. :) The DJ played a few good tracks and the sloppy dancer that I am, I managed to shake a leg somehow.. Dinner followed and after a nice hot cup of tea at Irani, I returned home only to be welcomed by my old friends! I caught up with them after ages..!!
After an hour of chatting up, one more hot cup of tea with Chinky over gossip, and texting a Valentine confession to a friend I had a
crush on ;) , I finally slept off..!!

All in all.. the best Valentines Day EVER..!!! :)

It's time to get back to my books now.. with the boards coming up next month... :(
Wish me luck..!!! Sayonara!
